The Trust has set up "Comtrust Academy of Research and Training" at Comtrust Charitable Trust Eye Hospital, Calicut to co-ordinate the training and research activities in the ever changing and complex field of Ophthalmology.

RESEARCH
Comtrust Eye Hospital's research department conducts studies and clinical trials to advance the understanding of eye diseases and improve treatment options. Our research activities focus primarily on eye diseases including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, etc. The project includes conducting clinical trials to determine the safety and efficacy of new eye care drugs, devices, and surgical procedures; collaborating with other academic institutions, industry partners, hospitals, and clinics; presenting research findings at conferences and symposiums; and publishing them in peer-reviewed journals.
An MOU was signed recently with the Department of Biotechnology, University of Calicut, in order to collaborate on research projects for the early detection of eye diseases in diabetic patients and other eye related diseases.
